Lapland Longspur Bethlehem
Wed, Mar 15, 2017 6:19 PM
A flock of this size or a bit larger has been in the area all winter, often on the road and road edges, but they're jumpy and mobile. I've searched for longspurs here on and off since December and this is the first time I found one. With the heavy snow cover, they were mostly near the main farm building at the high spot on the road today.

They say both engines would die at the same time, anyway. It would seem to me that once one quit and there might still be a significant time lag until the second one quit. Maybe time enough to get the problem sorted out.

Prismacolor Colored Pencils for you
Thu, Nov 7, 2013 9:41 PM
Best Regards, Barbara I don't want to be in the running for "the colored pencil artist with the most pencils when they die, WINS!" I just opened door #2 in the studio and found Prismacolor colored pencils...a lot of them! I don't need these, do you? You can decide upon colors by number here.

Re: [CT Birds] Question on Finch Eye Disease?
Sat, Dec 29, 2007 9:12 PM
The birds are quite sick and will eventually not be able to see to find food and water and will die. It is highly contagious to other birds. However, this disease is easily treated and since most birds can be caught every attempt should be made to do so.

I did not relocate the bird when I returned to the spot at 1130, but vocalizations were beginning to die down at mid-day. Other notable birds included Olive-sided, Willow, and Yellow-bellied Flycatchers, and Mourning, Canada, and Wilson's Warblers. Directions: The University Ave.
