Birders,
I joined Kayo Roy, Blaine and Jean Farnan and Gerry Rising this morning
along the road to Mohawk Point on Lakle Erie just west of Lowbanks,
Haldimand Region.
It was very sad to see the Brown Booby huddled, sleeping and shivering
right beside the road in exactly the same spot as when it was discovered
there yesterday afternoon.
It would periodically excrete and looked moribund.
We considered picking it up with a view to taking it to a rehab centre
and also knew that subspecies could then be determined whether it was
rehabilitated or if it expired.
But we waited for about an hour to see what would happen and imagine our
shock when it scrambled up and over the boulders then took flight flying
west towards Rock Point Provincial Park.
My guess is that it will likely die but that, now, we will not find it.
