Painting da boat question
Fri, Feb 29, 2008 5:57 PM
I really dont know anything about these kinds of house paint except for a small area on the flying bridge console top I painted with a latex-based in GBB color. Can a latex be sanded at recoat time if it has cracks and other visible damage?

Re: T&T: Painting anchor chain - Primer?

I really like how easy it is to see while it's still in the water and on its way up - it shows for 5 feet or so below the surface in Maine waters. There is no way you'd miss a marking, even at night. Now I just need to do more testing!

Good idea Lee - I also occasionally use the overboard pumpout (I removed the macerator so I would never be tempted to cheat) because it comes down from the top of the tank and reaches to within 1/2" or so of the bottom.

Re: T&T: Heat Shrink Antenna's

If painting is easy for you, cool. If not, perhaps heat shrink tubing is a good alternative. ken The antenna tapers from the base to the top on a 23 ft HF SSB Antenna as well on a VHF matching Antenna. That is 46 ft of Heat Shrink, two different sizes. Time and Material Wasted. Krylon Plastic Paint aerosol can less than $5.00 at Walmart.

Barnacle Buster Alternative

Much less toxic than muriatic acid and easy on the skin. I just mix up a 10:1 solution in a 6 gallon jerry can, pour it into the top of the strainer (no issues with my SMX pump's impeller), and let it sit for a couple of hours. If you're doing a recirculating flush, you probably want to go with a stronger 4:1 solution.

And it is of course not too complicated to implement an explicit typing system on top of this and I promise that this will be the first thing users acquainted with OOP will do - in a wild fashion. How?

Re: [OpenSCAD] Function to return the Opposite value

Easy: oppositeThing = 1-isThing; So if isThing is 1, oppositeThing is 0, and if isThing is 0, oppositeThing is 1.

Supporting a PCA order would easy to do. Pete Rawson I always buy more than one PCB, 5 - 6 don't cost any more than 1.  Unfortunately, I don't think my favorite prototype shop (PCB123) will be suitable for a layout with voids in the ground plane (reduce parasitic C) under the opamp and R4003C on the top layer, so I will have to do a 'real' PCB.

I know it has some problems, among those it has a HF on top of the 5 MHz and 10 MHz outputs, so making quality measurements isn't easy... on the level that the 10 MHz taken straight into the SR-620 says something like 11 MHz... but treating it slightly (through a TADD-2 modded for clock output) makes reading reliable.
