TWL: Another oil question for Alex
Mon, Jun 10, 2002 12:16 AM
I've used four brands in all. Texaco Havoline URSA, Shell Rotella T, Chevron Delo 400, and now I have Mobil Delvac 1300 in the crankcase. They are all readily available and similarly priced. My question is... do you have a favorite? If so, why. Honestly, don't be modest or PC. Just looking for your honest opinion.

By doing all of this you choke off any unrestricted paths from the mast into the innards of the boat protecting sensitive electronics and you!!! One thing I am going to work on is getting this stuff out of my head and on to my website with some diagrams to show all of this!!!! Hope this helps fuel good ideas. John

The MMIC VCO is just a die (or a die in a package) and it's pretty much immune to external effects, since the resonator is built into the oscillator. We built some prototypes at JPL using the VCO and a GaAs divider, and the performance was better than DROs.

There's a nifty website out there that shows the instantaneous and integrated phase difference between various places on the pacific coast, so you can see power flow changing.

Its performance exceeded the Beebe projection by about 1/3 and led to what CaptWil has coined the Beebe coefficient. That is a ratio to be applied to the standard Beebe method to compare a real boat with the Beebe standard. CaptnWil has written on this before.
