Hello Bill Something I haven't seen mentioned much on the list. Approx 75% of boats down here use L.P.G or Propane for all heating, cooking etc. We have a Rinnai automatic gas caliphont that supplies all the hot water that we ever need. One 9 kilogram gas bottle lasts for about 6 weeks (two of us living aboard). Cost per bottle is NZ$15.00 , at the present exchange rate about US$6.50.
