Re: T&T: Auto engine shut-down or not?
Tue, Aug 31, 2010 7:00 PM
Cars, trucks, boats, 18 wheelers, airplanes, motorcycles, heavy equipment...anything mobile...they can alarm, buzz, whir, siren, and complain all they want to, but that engine better run until I durn well turn it off or it is siezed into a lump of almost molten metal. Anything less is simply dangerous.

Hot and muggy this morning so didn't hike to all the good spots and also got a late start, about 9:30. Notables: 3 Yellow-billed Cuckoos, 14 Pewees, 3 Hooded Warblers (males), 2 Cerulean (males), 1 Acadian Flycatcher. Only migrants were single Magnolia and Blackpoll, both males. Many Blue Corporals flying now. Provencher -- Sent from Gmail Mobile

Re: GL: Where have all the cruisers gone?
Sun, Aug 24, 2008 8:15 PM
Sterling, All the cruisers are anchored out just around the bend from a dock that has a sign saying " Gas - Diesel - Mortgages ". They'll all come back out after the fuel prices come down.

Re: [time-nuts] frequency reference for portable operation
Mon, Mar 11, 2013 12:15 AM
Some people go to a high location like a mountain top and stay there all weekend. Many rove, driving hundreds of miles, or some combination of the two strategies. Very few have AC power available so operate on batteries for the two days, though sometimes with the option of charging batteries between stops or by just running your engine or a generator.
