Hello: The Okeechobee Waterway is open all summer UNLESS the locks are closed for repair or the water levels drop too low. Right now, water level is NOT a problem, and barring some other sincerely stupid move by the Floria Water Management Board, I suspect this will not be a problem this summer. Lock maintenance is another matter entirely.

Kevin Shackleton, John Watson and I did our annual vigil for Woodcock at Silver Lakes (Holland Landing) last Monday evening and had two birds doing the "Dance of the Timberdoodle" - it was the earliest Woodcock date for all three of us. Two GREAT BLUE HERONS flew overhead while we were there.
