There's really no question that people who die with Alzheimer's have more aluminum. None of the studies that I've seen go the next step - how does the aluminum get there? Correlation does not mean "cause and effect" - they are two completely different things.

A hole of the proper diameter would have to be punched, and the die clearances would have to be fairly close to make a clean hole, a task for a capable metal shop. Trim the OD to match the recess, making sure the shim is burr-free and perfectly flat, and re-assemble the pump using a new cam and cover plate.

The batteries can die or the motor and its connections can short out, even in double-insulated tools, thus necessitating the need for a work-around, e.g. more time required to get what is needed, if even available, to eliminate the emergency.

And keep in mind that more batteries are damaged due to mischarging than die of old age. One of the problems that arises by not maintaining a battery on constant float charge is the potential for sulfation of the plates that occurs when the batteries SOC falls to less than about 80% due to self discharge or otherwise.

By the way, the inside threads of the plug and the threads on the zinc often need cleaned or chased and can also be done with the appropriate sized tap or die. Most, if not all, threads on heat exchangers used in USA boats are SAE threads, not metric.
