Hi There are a lot of different 78x05 devices out there and various outfits pay more or less attention to the tempco on various die shrinks / redesigns. You can see a *wide* range of temperature performance ( > 10:1) between different examples from vendor A vs vendor B. With any linear regulator, self heating can degrade the “input side” rejection.

cabin rebuild

Note also that if this dome is at the top of the print, your ability to avoid tree rings is dependent on the Z resolution of your printer.

A "Blue Top" is a Wenzel Associates ultra-low phase noise oscillator. Wenzel makes a version in a standard small package that we refer to as a "ULN" (ultra low noise). The "Blue Top" is that oscillator mounted in a larger (but still small) enclosure with better thermal control and electrical isolation.
