[Ontbirds] Glaucous Gull, Cackling Geese, and Snowy Owls, Mapleton Twp., Wellington Co.
Mon, Mar 21, 2005 1:51 AM
The owls are between 2 and 8 km farther along in tree tops, on fence posts or hydro poles. This is a high speed road and the shoulders are narrow in places, so take extra caution. Virgil Martin Waterloo

[Ontbirds] Great Egrets and Ospreys
Fri, Jul 3, 2009 1:25 AM
Regarding the Ospreys (nest) I have been reporting in Aurora on top of the cell phone tower at Bloomington and Hwy 404 I had mentioned in one of my early spring reports that 2 pairs of Osprey were fighting for the nest. It seems the 2nd pair of Osprey built a nest on top of the cell phone tower just south of Bethesda Rd. on the east side of Hwy 404.

Re: TWL: Fuel tank sight gauges

The top should go either into the tank top or to a vent. This bottom connection is also a good place to put a drain so you can strip out any water that may accumulate from condensation. Hope this gives you some ideas ... Regards, Wayne Shosie on board BLUE MAX, a 1981 Albin 43 presently lying Summerland Key, FL

TWL: Re: When to stop Pumping Fuel?
Sun, Oct 14, 2001 4:27 AM
If knowing when the fuel tank is nearly full is important perhaps its worth installing a sensor that tells you when the level is within a certain amount from the top. A failry simple volume calculation will determine how many gallons are contained for each inch of tank space near the top.

Had a flange on top, with about a 3/4" thick piece of Lexan bolted down to it. The various thru-hulls were attached to the sides. The top was above the waterline, so if something clogged a thru-hull (they were the clamshell strainer types) you could just unbolt the cover and reach in and clear it.

NO WAY, not until I get the silly little thing in a slip all by myself, after which I will pop the top of a Canada Dry club soda and top it off with a lot of Scotch! THEN I might try some wind, might even do a better job too ;-). Too bad my Son is working late tonight, gotta do it all by myself.
