Bill, I share your concern about anchorages and water depths from Chicago to Mobile. That is why I have just finished the book Cruising from Chicago to Mobile. It is at the printer and will be ready in Mar 2005.

Today, the Raritan "Marine Elegance" is the top rated electric toilet. Practical Sailor (marine industry "consumer report" type magazine) rated it "best in show" in a comparison of all the major electric toilets in their February issue last year.

They hit their throttles full open to get up on a plane and the wash they leave is uncomfortable for all night anchoring. Better you stay at the Peck Lake anchorage during the day and have an enjoyable time on that wonderful beach that stretches for miles.

The male neighbor that shares the driveway (723 East Lakeshore) asks that no one park opposite the driveway because of all the ice in the driveway, he is afraid his car might slide into the parked cars. I received this today and have not had time to verify the information because all government offices are closed on the weekend. Has anyone heard anything about Florida registration fees? And two years instead of one? Martin Veiner Dear Boaters, Mike Knapp passed on information that boat registration fees were to be doubled beginning July 1.

We observed a large sailboat approaching the reef outside the entrance to the harbor, charging forward at full speed with all sails set, heading for disaster. Sure enough, a few minutes later, they ran aground with tremendous force and we feared they may have had injured crew aboard.
