Re: T&T: Marine heads

In the planning our our new vessel, we would like to ask what the
preference is for marine heads.  Right now, we are leaning towards
Sealand vacuum heads like we have on our 2001 48' Kadey Krogen
Northsea. However, we have just been told that Tecma heads are better.
After looking at their website, we are still trying to figure out
what kind of head the Tecma is.

Vacuflush is a good toilet, but no longer the best.

Tecma toilets are macerating electric toilets. And they are excellent
toilets...in fact, set a new standard for excellence when they were
first introduced. Every toilet mfr, even SeaLand, tried to clone
it...with varying degrees of success.

Today, the Raritan "Marine Elegance"

is the top rated electric toilet. Practical Sailor (marine industry
"consumer report" type magazine) rated it "best in show" in a comparison
of all the major electric toilets in their February issue last year. And
the price is by far the most reasonable too...about $600 retail WITH the
optional "Smart Flush" panel if you know where to shop. It's been out
about 5 years now...I've yet to hear from anyone who's had any problems
with it, who doesn't absolutely love it! It's designed to use onboard
pressurized flush water, but CAN use sea water by adding a remote intake
pump..in fact, with the optional "sea fresh" system added, you can even
switch between fresh or sea water at will.

You can read all about it here:
