[Ontbirds] Kentucky and Worm-eating Parrott's Bay, Kingston May 26
Mon, May 26, 2014 8:07 PM
I had great, prolonged looks at the singing Kentucky Warbler in the Parrott’s Bay C.A. west of Kingston this morning, Monday May 26. It does seem very territorial, chasing away other small birds from the area. It was moving around a bit, but stayed about 5 metres up in the deciduous trees close to the trail, as already described.

If we write off our dreams because the "big boys" tell us that without all of the gear that they have, leaving would be foolhardy, then where would we be? One of the great lessons that I've learned from this list is trying to keep a grip on simplicity over gadgetry. As an absolutely unrepentant gear-head, it doesn't come easy!

Yeah, they're tuff, and easy to work on. The last I checked I could do an inframe overhaul (liners, pistons, rings, rod and main bearings, all gaskets) on a 6-71 for about 1100 bucks, cheaper if you shop around. And anyone with even a little skill can do it. And parts are available all over the world.

Brokers are in business to make a living and it is not easy. If it were easy work, all of those folks at your local marina who spend the day debating the merits of plow anchors would be selling boats.
