This week shorebirds have shown up on Mirimichi Bay. There have been about
40 to 50 Dunlin, approx.10 or 12 Semipalmated Plover and a couple of Least
Sandpipers. Check Horseshoe Bay, also a good spot for Shorebirds, and is the
next bay past Mirimichi Bay.
Baie Du Dore this week has had about 12 Dunlin, Black-bellied Plover, and an
adult Bald Eagle.
Kincardine lagoons this week was alive with warblers and other songbirds.
Warblers of note were Blackburnian Warbler, Cape May Warbler, Pine Warbler,
and Bay breasted Warbler. Sharp-shinned Hawk, Black-billed Cuckoo (3),
Scarlet Tanager, Olive-sided Flycatcher, and Ruby-crowned Kinglet were also
seen.
In and around Inverhuron Provincial Park Clay-coloured Sparrow and Field
Sparrow were seen. The sparrows were seen in the fields on your right where
you turn to go into the park, near the lagoons.
Cliff Swallows have also returned.

Directions
To reach Bai Du Dore. From Hwy #21 in the village of Underwood south of Port
Elgin turn west on the 6th Conc. Bruce and go down to the lake.
To reach the Kincardine Lagoons. From Hwy #21 south of Kincardine, turn west
on Saratoga Rd. and follow the dirt road to a parking area at the Rail
Trail. The lagoons and trail are on the your right.
To reach Mirimichi Bay. Travel north on Hwy#21 from Port Elgin. Turn left on
10th Conc. Saugeen and then take the first right and Mirimichi Bay is on
your left. Horseshoe Bay is the next bay on your left.
Inverhuron Provincial Park is reached from Hwy #21 north of Tiverton. Turn
left on 2nd Conc. Bruce and travel west. Look for the signs to the Park
before you reach the gates of BNPD on your left.

The HURON FRINGE BIRDING FESTIVAL takes place every year at MacGregor Point
Provincial Park.
This year the 9th Annual Festival takes place MAY 26 TO JUNE 4. There are
over 80 events and over 40 top notch leaders. The migration corridor along
the shore of Lake Huron known as "The Huron Fringe", extending from
Kincardine to Tobermory on the Bruce Peninsula is the area we cover. Our
birding hikes, presentations and workshops are lead by very competent
birders and naturalists from all Ontario and Michigan. All birders and
naturalists from the beginner to the more advanced will find something to
pique their interests.
