Re: T&T: honda generator

Okay, so I was not reading most of the noise posts (I do not get the digest so it easy to ignore those subjects...hint, hint to the complainers), but I am aware that the inverter version Honda gensets are much appreciated. Got a chuckle yesterday.

Re: T&T: Inflatable PFDs

The best way is to have slip ons like an epaulette and print your name and boat name or what ever and slip it on you top most strap. If something changes it is easy to change up update. And yes it adds on however it is not any worse than clips and radios and cells etc.

Re: T&T: Cooking on the engine
Mon, Sep 6, 2010 3:09 PM
It was particularly easy with the flathead engines used then. Just wrap the food in foil and find a convenient spot to wedged it in place. My old Plymouth would nestle a couple of cans of beans or soup between the block and exhaust manifold. If you do this, be sure to punch a hole in the top of the can to let steam escape.

Re: T&T: Wax for hull
Wed, May 4, 2011 12:28 PM
It's easy to apply and wipe off or buff. I've converted a few at our marina that wanted a simpler way to get a nice shine. One application on the hull and top sides in the spring and possibly an other on the topside later in the season depending on usage and sunshine. Less work equals more boating time! Re: T&T: Electronic Navigation: Course Up vs North Up?
Wed, Dec 23, 2015 8:04 PM
North-up also is easy to move between paper charts and chart plotters. Most folks don't rotate their charts to the direction of travel, but, instead keep N. on the top. Regardless, don't change it from how I have it my boat unless you ask me first! Tell the next watchkeeper how it's set-up...

I'm not a professional, I never got into 'polyhedroning', but polygon is easy and works in this case pretty well (see attachment) Am So., 28.

Re: [time-nuts] WWV / WWVH / WWVB

I have had difficulty syncing to WWVB with embedded receivers before, so perhaps I will get a better signal from the top floor of my house. Here on ground level I never see it lock. Re: [time-nuts] Fw: Rubidium Lamp PIX
Sat, Dec 29, 2012 2:15 PM
Should be easy enough for you to figure out. The idea is to evaporate any rubidium that is blocking the light from leaving the bulb and making a straight path to the filter cell, and ultimately the detector end of the package. Look at the bulb on the side where the light must exit, and if it is shiny and black, heat it there until it clears.
