Re: [time-nuts] 10 MHz -> 16 MHz clock multiplier

I'd put the knee of the curve at $10. $1 would be great. $100 is too much. You can get different answers if you pick $3 or $30 rather than my $10, but I think that's the right ballpark. -- These are my opinions. I hate spam.

Beebe's original Passagemaker for sale
Wed, Jun 15, 2005 3:26 PM
It was then that he coined the word "passagemaker" as the term for ocean-crossing vessels. Passagemaker was built in Singapore and launched in 1963. The 50,000 sea miles that Beebe put under her keel over the next five years was unheard of in a day when sailboats were the only recreational vessels venturing out of sight of land.

TWL: RE: Electrolysis

Since zinc is, to coin a phrase, a "least metal", adding sacrificial zincs means the current flows to and erodes them rather than some valuable and essential component of the vessel. I assume, therefore, that the recommendation to "unplug" simply removes a possible source of accelerated deterioration.

Since he is writing a book on boat handling I won't say what term he used but he has coined a term for the effect and describes the effect as the interaction between the boats center of mass and center of pressure. It was normal for sailboats but I didn't expect the same behavior from a powerboat.

I'm thinking we could coin a new term on this list, Boat List Lawyers. It appears that none of our experts has actually read the trial transcript to find out exactly what testimony was given. It seems as if none of the experts is involved in day to day emergency response.
