RE: [PUP] Pilothouse

The second station will be on top of the salon at the back of the pilot house, and it would just be a wheel and throttles/shifters, as light weight as possible. The pilothouse is on top of the salon now and the boat feels overly top heavy.

RE: TWL: Fuel tank sight gauges

One additional detail about the sight gauges: you need valves at the top and the bottom of the tube. Using the plastic tubing works fine. Our 1973 36' Grand Banks had the plastic tubing...which while it discolored, was still readable. The surveyor made us add valves on the top (they were already on the bottom of the tubes).

I use a pair of the smaller, lighter, and less expensive Optima red tops in my Cummins 5.9 ISB pickup, and two 34M blue top starting batteries (each 800 CCA, 1000 MCA, same as red top except for the terminal type) for my boat's Volvo KAD44. A pair weighs only 77 lbs.

The problem comes when the last side--- usually the top--- is installed. Once the top is in place the fabricator cannot get to the inside of the seam. So he can only weld the outside of the seam.

In particular, how is the upper fiberglass shroud (inside and outside) attached to the cabin top? There appears to be a solid teak beam along the edge of the cabin top which would be under the fiberglass of the area of the cabin top. Outside this is a fiberglass 'box' section that the hand rails are attached to. How is this attached to the beam?

Its actually quicker and easier to make a planoconvex "lens" than a biconvex one. Bruce

It's interesting, though, that most top-posting MUAs insist on putting a new .sig all the way at the bottom. What's the logic behind that? >it was a real pain to have to download several pages of quoted >message only to see "me to" at the bottom. People who don't trim are even worse than top-posters.
