Re: [time-nuts] WWVB remodulator for the Spectracom 8170...

If you have a 500 ohm to 50 ohm L pad on the gate, it should not draw much current at all to drive the load. I think that keeping the level as low as possible is a good idea RF wise. You don't want leakage of the local signal masking the real WWVB.

TWL: Painting my trawler

The Easy poxy does give a decent finish, but not quite as good as a well sprayed two part LP, such as Awlgrip. The Easypoxy will probably be good for 2 to 4 years and the Awlgrip up to 10 or more years--since the biggest "cost" is the prep, it pays to go with the top quality paint. Two part LP's can also be brushed, with a brushing reducer.

TWL: Fuel tank repair from above/

I cover that in some detail My experience shows that cutting into the deck would not have done any good at all. Infact I removed a number of feet of teak and repaired the glass under it before I gained the experience of how leaks on decks work!!!!

Changing the roll of paper towels in the F-1 has always been easy for me. I just loosen the top, drain off the fuel inside with the drain valve, then remove the paper towel roll. There is a plate that screws onto the stem that you have to remove; it holds the paper towels in place. Other than that, the paper towels just slide right out.

VHF Battery Pack Rebuild
Mon, May 3, 2004 8:17 PM
Primecell rebuilds almost any kind of battery pack and has a very extensive list of applications on their website at primecell.com. Not all are NiCd to NiMH conversions. They are not (very) good at communications, as I sent several emails to ascertain the status and shipping date, and did not receive any replies.
