VHF Transmissions - Was: Pleasure vessel sinking off Cedar Key
Thu, Dec 8, 2011 8:01 PM
When I had my sailboat, the VHF antenna was on top of the 65' mast. I routinely could hear Mobile, AL, Pensacola, Tampa/St. Pete. and Key West Coast Guard stations when offshore of Panama City. Once, I talked with Tampa/St.

"Reply to all" Option
Tue, Jul 9, 2013 7:30 PM
If you select the email action "reply to all," remember everyone gets your post twice -- once via the List and once directly. Instead, just send your message by just placing the Great-Loop@lists.trawlering.com in the address bar. And, as always, please "snip" out all unnecessary portions of the previous message(s).

Desolate Stretch of ICW
Mon, Aug 17, 2009 2:54 AM
My boat holds 110 gallons in each saddle tank and I had topped off in Hampton, VA. Needless to say, where I ran out happened to be the most desolate area of the whole stretch! There was no mobile phone reception and UHF wasn't able to contact any one except for one boat going North.
