TWL: How are we doing?
Wed, Jun 26, 2002 3:54 AM
A search capability (with advanced search options) for the archives, accessible from the website, would be terrific. It used to be really easy with Google, but now the results usually turn up a huge compiled monthly .TXT file that is very cumbersome to scan. The former individually-archived way was much more convenient.

Transporting Gasoline

I suspect ideally an aluminum tank would be the "solution"--but we found that the 5 gallon cans (which were filled on the dock and then lifted aboard) were easy to store and transfer to the 6 gallon tanks in the RIB. Bob Austin

Weaver vs lift

I have a 10' dinghy and a 15 hp Yamaha,  so this option looks good for easy launch and retrieval.   I put the dink and motor on top of our 40' Europa style trawler when going off shore,  but I think the Hurley system might work well for ICW and river cruising,  and when we spend time at anchor or on a mooring.

Re: [OpenSCAD] Improve rendering speed

For easy comparison, I have left the top and bottom surfaces uncut. I have refined the mesh a lot this time: it has 140000 points. The final model has 43000 polygons, subdivided in 137000 triangles with a total of 197000 vertices. It took 38min to render.

On messages that are unlikely to add long term value to the archive, like this one, I usually top post. Then you don't have to scroll all the way down before hitting "Delete".

When I took mine apart, I ended up tearing off all the rubber at the top and then cutting out that ring of hard foam to get at the Dewar so I could smash it more. I'm guessing you'd rather not do that! :) But sacrificing the rubber on the top might be okay, if you have to.
