hard tops
Fri, Jan 21, 2011 10:25 PM
I'm going to need new canvas in a few years and was wondering about a hard top bimini. My thoughts are fiberglass or starboard. Pros or cons? How hard is starboard to work, form, bend? Are there sources for surplus, salvage, or over-run products? I'd like something strong enough to stand on, but not excessively heavy. Thanks for any wisdom.

Re: T&T: Victory Lock website

The cited website belongs to an Indian company which does not claim to manufacture SS mortise locks. http://tinyurl.com/36gcrr is a page from the Canadian, Rekford website showing Perko imitations in 316 SS. Likely from China as Marin said.

I've been recently looking over the "Top 10" comments from several months ago, as I also am looking at a nice 36' Willard Vega Offshore up here in the pacific Northwest. I would very much appreciate any information, comments, opinions, and what to look out for on a 1963 model.

Re: [PUP] top five boats

Most importantly, seek out owners of boats that AREN'T on the top of your current list. Also owners of your preferred brand who are willing to tell you the things they don't like about their boats. Ask them both to list their top five requirements (not top five boats) and find out how well their boat achieved those.
