Re: Re: Vacuum Gauges

Racor makes two gauges, one for T mount on top of the filter, the other for remote mount. Basic difference is locating the fitting on the back as well as panel mounting bracket. Easy to run tube from a T in the fuel line up to a gauge. I suppose copper as well as 'rubber' would work fine (FWIW I used copper).

Repair/Replace, was "Replacing Fuel Tanks"
Sat, Feb 2, 2008 1:46 PM
We pumped it empty, pulled up the carpet and cut out the plywood cabin sole and framing and pulled the tank out the top. It was aluminum and I took it to a welding shop where they found the leak and welded it up. I reinstalled it, sistered the deck framing and reinstalled the plywood and carpet. In the main, it was pretty easy!

I consulted with a top flight diesel mechanic. He was not impressed with the older models but has not had contact with the newer ones so he did not know if there had been substantial been upgrades in recent years. Are parts easy to come by or are there a limited number of distributors? Any comments on longevity? Thanks for your input.

Re: [time-nuts] Active antennas for a Thunderbolt...

It is a helix antenna inside and the mounting > holes on the bottom line up with a standard iron pipe flange so > mounting is easy. That's exactly the same antenna I use with my Thunderbolt. It is mounted on top of the roof, with a 360 degrees view of the sky and LH reports signal strengths usually in excess of 40 dBc.

They are pretty easy to figure out. If you are using the keyboard, just remember, starting at CTRL+4, top, bottom, left, right, front, back.
