Is it possible to mount some sort of vacuum sending unit on the Racors with
a remote gauge that would permit monitoring outside of the engine room? Has
anyone done this? If so could you tell me the parts you used.

I have always recommended installing the vacuum gauges at the helm station
and have them there on Dreamer, none in the engine room. Just run copper
tubing (I use 1/4") from the fuel line where you would normally install the
vacuum gauge, up to the helm station to the gauge area and add a short
section of fuel hose if needed for access, such as a gauge panel swinging
out of lifting out for maintenance or such.
Good luck,

Simpler and much less prone to failure would be to mount a Murphy vacuum
switchgage in the engine room. It can then be wired to a remote alarm.

I just mounted a vacuum gage in my galley (straight up over the Racors) and
ran a copper tube down to the fitting. The run is only a couple of feet, but
I suppose you could make longer runs. You can also check at:

Racor makes two gauges, one for T mount on top of the filter, the other for
remote mount. Basic difference is locating the fitting on the back as well
as panel mounting bracket.
Easy to run tube from a T in the fuel line up to a gauge. I suppose copper
as well as 'rubber' would work fine (FWIW I used copper).
