Most units that are well cared for “die” when the tube goes out and come back to life when it’s replaced. The tube life dominates the MTBF in this case. Rb’s are a device that by it’s (possibly unfortunate) physics needs to run hot. The vast majority in service are “miniature” in comparison to a 5071 or a 5065.

Some die-hard souls (Mike Tate, Ross and Sandy Mackintosh, Ed and Nalja LeBlanc) were out today and managed to re-located the warbler at 1 pm this afternoon. The bird was found along a seasonal birding trail which follows the old road transit loop road on the east side to Sparrow Field.

Carolina Wrens are not common in Stratford and often suffer die back in cold winters. This specimen must have good genes to survive -26 C of a few nights ago. Steve Thorpe The bird was along the north side of Lake Victoria in Stratford. There is parking very close at the east end of William Street.
