Hi Jim, for many years (over 20) I have used protel (now altium) autotrax- not that I am recommending it to you, but it is a very simple and intuitive program to use and I base my opinion of all the others on it. All the more modern ones I have tried are, for the most part, from fairly, to extremely, counter-intuitive. Until I came across Target 3001. http://server.ibfriedrich.com/wiki/ibfwikien/index.php?title=Main_Page It took me only a an hour or so to produce my first board with the free version using the autorouter and schematic capture, which for me is a very short learning curve! What I was also impressed with is the 3d image of the board which you can rotate to check component clearances, etc. Like Bruce, I persevered with eagle for a while, even got some boards out if, but it was bloody hard work, and about as counter-intuitive as they come so I gave up on that. Having said all that, load 'em all on your machine and have a play- different strokes for different folks. I saw an American White Pelican at 16:15 today (Monday) in Cootes Paradise. (Probably a juvenile, but seen from rather far with no scope.) Two white egrets, presumably Greats, were perched in a tree beyond (north of) the pelican, who was standing on a log by a large cattail stand along the north shore. The birds were seen from the South Shore Trail, about 400-500 m east of the Chegwin Trail entrance (which is just north of the McMaster University football field)... hence several hundred m west of Princess Point. happy fall birding, Martin Daly

I watched a Wood-Pewee foraging in the University of Guelph Arboretum at midday today, in the woods a couple of hundred meters southeast of the main visitors' centre. Awfully early for this species, and it can't have been happy about the cold! Martin Daly

Hello... Yesterday afternoon (no, this is not an April Fool), I watched a pair of Fish Crows in Guelph in the vicinity of the Stevenson-Palmer intersection, (This is about 3 km north of the University of Guelph Arboretum, where the speceies was reported a few days ago.) The Fish Crows and a pair of American Crows were calling back and forth and swooping about for three or four minutes in a sort of mutual aerobatics interaction that was not evidently aggressive. cheers, Martin Daly

Hello everybody, I was just wondering if disabling the fan on the usrp might effect it negatively. I am using it without the cover all the time and I think that the fan is not changing much in this case anyway. I never had a problem using it without the cover. Does anybody know if I should better let the fan enabled or even use the cover? Btw. I am using the USRP N210 + WBX. Regards Sebastian

Hello all, I just updated the UHD for my USRP N210. Afterwards I also installed the latest firmware and fpga image from http://www.ettus.com/downloads/uhd_images/. uhd_find_devices is working fine again but when I try to run uhd_usrp_probe I get the following error: linux; GNU C++ version 4.6.1; Boost_104601; UHD_003.004.000-6f1f5f5 -- Opening a USRP2/N-Series device... Error: RuntimeError: Please update the firmware and FPGA images for your device. See the application notes for USRP2/N-Series for instructions. Expected FPGA compatibility number 8, but got 7: The FPGA build is not compatible with the host code build. Does anybody know why I am getting this error although I just updated the firmware and fpga image? Thanks Sebastian
