8/26 LIS and 8/27 Willard's Island
Mon, Aug 28, 2023 12:11 AM
Hi all, Yesterday (Sat 8/26) I birded Long Island Sound by boat from about 10am to 5pm. I traveled from New Haven Harbor to Goose Island (Guilford) to the "ferry lanes" in the eastern Sound, then northwest to Black Point and worked the coast back to New Haven.

Re: T&T: Raysat satellite antenna

The Raysat website referred me to for U.S. customers. From that website: "The AT&T CruiseCast service includes 42 channels, including 22 of the top cable and mobile channels, and 20 radio channels for $28/ month. The price of the equipment for the vehicle (antenna and receiver) may vary by dealer."

Re: [time-nuts] DDS module

Seems so obvious but makes me wonder if adding a small coin to top of the DIP can oscillator is not only helping thermal wise but is somehow helping improve phase noise. I think we have tended to think of a DDS as being "it". That is, we can generate something stable and precise digitally and it will be good no matter what.

Waves, fuel load, current, boat speed and even wind can all affect boat height and the ability to safely pass...those and safety clearance are all the captain's responsibility.

As far as I know none have a voltage-controlled oscillator but that would certainly be interesting :-) The RTC's current purpose is to keep time while the system is off, as it can run for many years from a lithium coin cell, and to wake the system at a scheduled time if desired.
