Re: T&T: Cetol
Mon, Apr 20, 2009 5:09 PM
Easy to touch up and much more durable than varnish. Hi Stephen and Rich I have used Cetol for years..and love it--except the one occuring problem that I encounter: When Cetol gets rubbed or nicked--it all comes off at that spot, down to the bare wood. I have never heard of using Thinner no 216 between coats--what does it do and why use it?

Phil and all, everyone gets it wrong sometimes. And of course sometimes we get it right when everyone thinks we were wrong! Such is life and such is the human experience. The only point at which we stop making mistakes is when we die. I hope to keep on making mistakes for a bit yet. Dave

When propellers replaced sidewheels, the bridge was considered so useful for that purpose that a raised command center began to be included in all ship designs. Though no longer an actual bridge from one side of the ship to the other, the name stuck and continues to be used to this day. Btw...Brunel's life story is fascinating.

I'm asking because on my old sailing auxiliary Yanmar, there was a lever on top that relieved the compression to allow for easy hand-cranking. I see no such equivalent on the Perkins. Is there a way to hand-crank the motor without compression resistance to determine the state of the bearings? Thanks.
