You can do essentially the same thing with thick (6 mil) plastic sheeting. Just use duct tape to tape it to the hull around the edges of the hatch. Same idea after that. It's easier than fashioning a tight-fitting plywood hatch cover.

Diesel Stabilizer for Winter Storage

We use the Select-3 primarily for its Mil-Spec lubricity attributes but I believe it also has stabilizing properties as well. You can check out the specs and claims for their products at http://www.hammondscos.com/index.asp .

On the advice of our diesel shop we have used a mil spec lubricity additive in our fuel since buying the boat twelve years ago. I cannot say if the additive is helping, hurting, or not doing anything.

:-D It's built like a piece of mil-spec equipment. >> When I google for individual parts, I keep tripping over NSN numbers. OT: Packing and shipping of test equipment

There may be appropriate MIL standards? May be even a feedback score on ebay if we all ask for it? I notice that the experienced sellers can still pack test equipment with recycled packaging and get the items from Europe, USA and Asia in the condition it was advertised.

Some practical time-nuts just rip out the expensive mil-spec connector and install a normal IEC connector. Or, if you're brave, just remove the bottom panel and use jumper wires to deliver 120 VAC directly to the pins. But, very important, make sure you've got the right pins. See http://leapsecond.com/museum/hp5065a/conn.htm for details.
