Re: Cooking aboard

Yes, these radiant electric cook tops are amazing! You cannot compare them with the old coiled-element designs. The thermostats are so quick and sensitive that you have much better heat control than with gas! The all glass cooking surface makes clean up effortless.

Re: [time-nuts] 57600 baud rate with Basic etc

Basic serial has its merits, but it's regrettable that RS-232 came out on top. RS-422 (or full-duplex RS-485, not much difference) would have been a much better choice. Differential so it has good noise resistance, and it doesn't use weird voltages (-12V? come on...) It all looks the same from the software side though. Bytes in, bytes out. -- m. tharp

If the boat salvage guys listed all their used fittings and equipment on something like eBay, they would be providing national access for the market place. Arild

Re: [PUP] PUP - Cost of cruising, was top 5 boats

They are all pretty much sold out. My rate just went up from $8.50/ft/mo to $12.80. All the marinas in La Pa', Mazatlan, and PV are full with comparable rates. Those that do have spots left (for example in Costa Rica or Zihua in MX) are because they are $20 to $30/ft/mo. Overnight guest docks are almost non existent.

For those who may be interested, Defender Industries (CT) carries this product and they will special order just the pump rather than all the bells, whistles,timers,etc...that cuts the price per engine substantially...if I recall by 40% or 50%.

Re: T&T: Open or shut?

It is all relatively unlikely (especially if you visit your boat regularly) but it does happen from time to time. I shut off the macerator thru-hull whenever it is not in use (since it is an underwater design.) George Rankin Silk Road.

Ah, but it is possible that all 14 could be off in the same direction. Sorry. Bill Hawkins wrote: > Ah, but a man with 14 standards can use statistics! > > Sorry.
