Re: TWL: Weather Report

For eastern Canadians, the truth is - honest, cross-my-heart, sincerely hope not-to-die - it's (still) raining here in Victoria. Poured all day yesterday, drizzle today. The daffodil pickers are getting soaked. Fields have become lakes.

The normal insulated crimp die will not provide what is classed as a "gas tight" joint. The salt air will allow moisture to wick into the strands and over time some corrosion will build up inside all these crimp joints.<<<< Which is of course why these joints should be soldered.

The only thing a 8-10% change in hertz will do is make your electric clocks inaccurate but a low voltage will deal things like AC and fridge fits and if it gets too low the compressors will overheat and could die. Bill

Will smearing these connectors with die electric grease harm > the signals travelling through these thin wires?

If nothing else, you would probably die from exposure if you were out there a long time. The EPIRB (or preferably, GPIRB) would hopefully prevent that though.

Chinese hydraulic crimper (Was: Battery cable replacement)
Tue, Nov 30, 2010 5:08 PM
Shortly after receiving the crimper, I notified Harbor Freight about the incorrect die sizes. The customer service agent acted surprised. To correct the situation, Harbor Freight sent me a new set of dies. The new ones I received were the exact ones that came with the crimper. I gave up.
