Re: T&T: jellyfish in gen strainer..urban myth?
Thu, Aug 13, 2015 11:53 AM
The best solution for me was to remove the top of the strainer housing and clean out the jelly in the strainer. I also took a hose from the dock and inserted it into the hose from the thru hull to the strainer, tightened a hose clamp around the metal end of the hose and turned on the water.

You wouldn't mind to make an selection of fets or else to obtain the very top specs of a certain unique instrument design as the real final product are the results you may obtain with that instrument and not at all it's design...

I don't use bleach as Kathy suggests, but I have a spare so the dirty one goes through the dishwasher (top shelf only).  Tears when I have gotten too busy I have taken it down as suggested rather than neglect it.

To die: to sleep: No more: and by a sleep to say we end... The generator, and in it's place the inverter! Ah, how sweet it is! (A play on words from Hamlet, by W.S. and the Honeymooners, by Jackie Gleason) Capt. Mike Maurice Near Portland Oregon.

TWL: differences in wire
Sat, Jan 11, 2003 1:39 PM
This means using a ratcheting crimper matching the > crimper die to the terminal. The ratcheting crimper is designed to crimp > the sleeve to the copper wire AND the to the wire insulation for the strain > relief. The ratcheting crimper also makes the same crimp time after time > after time.

Re: TWL: Lightning experiances

>....I get the impression that most people who are struck directly by a >lightning bolt, either die, or are very seriously injured.... Surprisingly, that's not true. We get lots of lightning in Florida. One of the local stations had an emergency room physician on TV talking about what to do for someone who is struck (just common sense stuff).

Re: T&T: Perkins 6.354 oil filter

All the name brands-- Die Hard, Interstate, etc., etc., etc. come from these two manufacturers. There are more than two filter manufacturers, but it's the same idea. The same is true for fuel pumps. The trick there is to specify the one for the cheapest car - e.g. Bosch used to make the same pump for VW, BMW and Ferrari.

Sextants
Fri, Dec 2, 2005 1:59 PM
I am planning on taking celestial navigation and was looking about for a used sextant to be a backup if both GPS systems die. I've always been interested but never taken the time to learn. From reading Passagemaker, it seems the morning sightings were enough for sound bearings during his trip across the pond.
