Hi The thermal fuses die on their own far more often than they die protecting anything. The fuse is there to provide safety is certain odd situations. The simple answer these days is to replace it with a piece of wire.

I have seen SLA's (in UPS's) 'shrivel' and get very hot as they die. I'll have to take a look at the 732A manual to see what it's battery construction looks like.

You will want to locate the die that most closely fits your >> tube >> OD. Perform the bending operation very slowly. If one goes too fast, >> there >> is danger of collapsing the tube. Batteries die and terminals corrode and you really want that light when you need it. ----- Original Message ----- We keep a small waterproof light and a whistle tied to our life jackets. Presumably the light might help one figure out the VHF in the dark. And if not, you've still got the whistle which has a simpler user

I modified one die set to fit 4/0 cable and used it several times. I've seen several similar 16 ton hydraulic crimpers on e-bay for $30 prehaps worth the risk/buy. I also used the smaller dies to swage wire rope and that ok as well.
