Re: T&T: Autopilot Installation - Rate Gyro - Fluxgate Placement

For example (and I know of a boat where this has been done very successfully) on a steel boat we can put the magnetic compass at the top of the mast, put the rate stabilizer in the wheelhouse, and have a rock-solid compass signal free of interference from the hull.

Re(2): TWL: Consumer Reports for Marine Electronics?

They also now have a website where subscribers can go for past articles and or order reprints. Although Practical Sailor addresses mostly sailing stuff, they do get into electronics, paint, anchors, tools and other general boating interests. Furthermore there is a similar magazine for power. Perhaps someone else can remember the name for you.

Have discovered rust on the top of the tank particularly around the fill hose. I am on the source of the leak, but am looking for advice for the tank. Surgery tomorrow to get access. My current plan is to vac out, wire brush the area, vac again, Phospho three times, dry then CPES. Comments? Richard

Also note that Heather can only get/update the FC value (usually( every two seconds. Occasionally, due to vagaries in the PRS-10 response timing, you can see two consecutive values in the log that are not the same. > 2) Have any of you ever logged the FC values while at the same time taken precision measurements of PRS10 output phase?

Is there anyone out there who would like to take on the job of updating our website? There is a $500 stipend for the individual who is generous enough to serve the section in this way. It's a pretty minimal job, but an important one. Gustavo did it himself, but I'm clueless and must rely on the talent around me.
