Re: T&T: Engine room flooring
Sun, Feb 13, 2011 2:18 PM
The material in the engine room was getting pretty shabby, a friend of mine has access to cutoff pieces of lonfloor (by lonseal) in the silver diamond plate pattern, the OEM was coin. Other than the diamond plate being not as easy on the knees as the coin, it makes a good looking job, and the material is very heavy and durable.

Fluke 883AB differential voltmeter

Uses a 6 cell NiMH coin cell pack built into a piece of PVC pipe. One place wanted $600 for the replacement! Since the unit only draws 11 ma while you hold the test button, I replaced it with a 9V smoke alarm battery / diode to block charging.

looking for live-work studio
Sun, Aug 2, 2009 10:18 PM
This is a long-shot, but I am a somewhat reclusive Tacoma artist with a big happy dog (lab-Dalmatian mix) and a cat who is looking for a tiny house, a  MIL or cabin  where I can live and work in private.   It must be under $700 a month and have at least 1 bedroom or office where I can close the door and work without animal interference.

Water Tanks

Coating a fiberglass/polyester tank should help with the taste problem. 20 mils is a satisfactory coating amount. Google "Epoxy Potable water"--and there will be a number of approved epoxy coatings. Many paint companies have these in stock--such as Benjamin Moore and Sherman Williams. No West Systems Epoxy is in the approved group.

Trace SW2512 Problem
Sun, Jul 5, 2009 11:33 PM
My Trace has developed a problem between the neutral wire and ground as I can measure 45 VAC and 7 mils of current. I disconnected the outgoing AC load wires and the incoming AC load wires at the unit, turned the it on to invert and can read the same 45 VAC as mentioned. Seems something inside the big white box is leaking to the AC neutral.

Re: T&T: Autopilot Installation - Rate Gyro - Fluxgate Placement

By the way on Island Eagle I mounted the both the rate stabilizer and the flux-gate compass in the pilothouse (which is about 10 feet above the waterline) and they seem to work perfectly. Scott Welch www.islandeagle.net "The person who makes no mistakes usually doesn't make anything"
