Jim Hughes Subject: Re: [PUP] Any suggestion - or PPM should die ? Hello, could we ask all the sailors on here to look at not the top 600K trawler but put their experience to making a good seaworthy small passagemaker, and what a small passagemaker would need.

See archives for details or go to their website. Relatively inexpensive and unlimited air time. No affiliation etc... George of Scaramouche1, Lake Ontario, Canada

Additionally, it is available in a variety of shades (avoiding >the orange cast, I suppose), and two different levels of top coat, >depending on desired wear and abrasion resistance. Does anyone have >experience with this side of things?

If you go to: http://tinyurl.com/yong77 You will find they have a CD with US Boating Charts with Tides and Currents, and while this CD will likely duplicate a lot of what you already have, for the $99 cost you will have the Tennessee River charts and also the Tenn-Tom Charts all the way to Mobile bay.

hard tops
Fri, Jan 21, 2011 10:25 PM
I'm going to need new canvas in a few years and was wondering about a hard top bimini. My thoughts are fiberglass or starboard. Pros or cons? How hard is starboard to work, form, bend? Are there sources for surplus, salvage, or over-run products? I'd like something strong enough to stand on, but not excessively heavy. Thanks for any wisdom.

"Stuff" for packing base of wooden mast
Thu, Mar 8, 2012 1:12 PM
More importantly, don't forget to honor the ancient tradition of placing a coin under the mast in the mast step. Use something with a bit of panache, not a common quarter. A Bahamian coin, a Canadian Loonie or Toonie or perhaps a $20 gold piece would do nicely! Regards, Randy Pickelmann Morning Star lying Marathon, FL www.CruisingMorningStar.com

Re: T&T: Victory Lock website

The cited website belongs to an Indian company which does not claim to manufacture SS mortise locks. http://tinyurl.com/36gcrr is a page from the Canadian, Rekford website showing Perko imitations in 316 SS. Likely from China as Marin said.
