Nothing wrong with Cruiseemail...Nothing particularly right with it either.

Basically Sailmail is an up and going volunteer driven organization of
substantially larger size than cruiseemail.  Cruiseemail is a startup
commercial endeavour trying to make a buck off cruiser communication.  The
amateur airmail  dwarfs both and offers significantly better service if you
go amateur and can deal with the rules.

Cruiseemail is apparently more expensive than sailmail though it offers more
flexibility.  The number of available stations heavily favors sailmail
unless you are on the east coast of the US. Note that cruiseemail rates are
significantly different in the S. Pacific(read the fine print).

Unless you are a hard core capitalist I suggest sailmail or airmail. This
area has developed from the amateur size and probably lacks the size
required to support a significant commercial endeavour.

Note that the USCG is running a virtually identical system to sailmail for
their internet communications from ships. Even using PGP for privacy.

Works for me.

I don't know if it will work for me, they think my cruising area is named
after a French car..

CruiseEmail has a site ready to go full operational in Seattle, WA.  This
station will serve the cruiser, and commercial vessel needs from Seattle to
Alaska, with extensive coverage in the Peugeot Sound, and onto the North
Pacific Ocean.

Best,

Steve

If e-mail is the only activity you're interested in, there is
"PocketMail".
Works well with analogue cell-phones or pay-phones/business-phones
when on shore. Used by many cruisers. See archives for details or go
to their website. Relatively inexpensive and unlimited air time.

No affiliation etc...
