Re: USRP X310 with GPSDO : clock source parameter
Fri, May 6, 2022 3:16 PM
Internal is to the SDR’s on-board TCXO, while external pulls the clock from the external clock in port on the rear of the device. Unless I am mistaken, to use the GPSDO, you must set the clock source and time source to “gpsdo”. That’s the way it works on the N310, at least, so I suspect it’s similar for the X310. Be careful when clicking links or opening attachments unless you know the content is safe. Dear all, I’m using USRPs X310 with integrated GPSDO. My goal is to compare the quality of different types of local oscillators but I’m confused with the clock reference source parameter. When the clock reference source is specified as “internal“ will my reference be the internal TCXO or the GPSDO? Similarly, when the clock source is specified as “external“ which of these two clocks will be the reference? Thank you for your answer, Amélia

GNU Radio Companion N310 GPIO Sink/Source block
Tue, Jun 28, 2022 8:03 PM
(Cross-posted on usrp-users and discuss-gnuradio) For anyone who's familiar with using the USRP3 (specifically the N310) with GNU Radio: I'm trying to create a flowgraph in gnu radio companion that incorporates reading a value from one pin on the front panel GPIO of the N310 and writing a value to another pin. I'm looking for a source/sink block for GNU Radio companion that can accomplish this. Has anyone done this previously, or can anyone point me in the right direction? I have very little experience with GNU Radio and have no expertise in programming OOT modules. Thank you for any help you can provide. GPIO on N310
Thu, Jun 9, 2022 3:05 PM
Hello, Apologies if this question is too basic, but I have not been able to find a definitive answer in the N310 documentation. Is it possible to stream data or signals to or from the USRP using the GPIO ports, or is it only useful for status and triggering? Specifically, is it possible to use the GPIO to stream an arbitrary waveform to the N310, digitize it, and then modulate and transmit it? Conversely, is it possible to receive a signal, demodulate and stream it to the GPIO? The underflows you're getting mean your host PC isn't providing samples fast enough for the rate the radio is consuming them and it's underrunning the TX buffer. Likely there isn't enough bandwidth between the host PC and the radio to support 100 Msps. There is a pretty good discussion of bandwidth and sampling rates here: https://kb.ettus.com/About_USRP_Bandwidths_and_Sampling_Rates Very respectfully, Joshua White Precision Timing Systems Engineer Engineering & Support Solutions Directorate www.riversideresearch.org T: 937.986.3153 | F: 937.431.3811 This e-mail message, including any attachments, is for the sole use of the intended recipient(s) and may contain proprietary, confidential or privileged information or otherwise be protected by law.
