Eloran long test from now to August or September.

Very good news today there is a long test running in the Western US and 3
sites are now active.
Sites at Fallon, NV; George, WA; and Havre, MT are all up and running now.
GRI is 5990. Not sure you’ll hear them so far away but thought I would let
you know in case you see any skywave.
At least two of these stations have significant power. Not sure on Havre MT.

I will be firing up the receivers and seeing if I can hear anything here on
the east coast. Also will leverage the various online SDRs to see what they
hear.

Just maybe we will have eLoran back as a frequency and time reference.

Paul

This is wonderful news!  The reports from the Resilient Navigation and
Timing Foundation (rntfnd.org) about how vulnerable our dependence on GPS
makes us have been scaring me for several years. Especially since our three
biggest enemies have working Loran systems (and at least two of them are
pretty good at jamming GPS).

Let’s hope that those who control the funding have finally gotten the
message.

Sort of doubt that. We work best when we are in trouble.
But good to see a long test with 3 stations. Thats some power bill.
Unfortunately I have no luck in hearing them and looking at online SDR are
sites the eastern range is limited.
That makes sense.

Don thats really odd.
I was using various SDR online sites to listen and Montana is on the air at
least by ear.
Or those sites are doing a good job of picking up the Wa and Nv sites. But
it sure seemed like Mt was running.
I did notice many of the online SDRs have very poor antennas at 100 KHz I
assume/speculate.
Amazingly your in Mt. Lucky you with a free Cs reference from eloran.
When the East was running that actually was my goto reference even over
GPS. Must be a strange trust thing I have.
