A bit late I know, but I just fired up an Austron 2100F on GRI 5990 and it locked within minutes on September 4, 2023. Signal strength (daytime) is around 150uV at the antenna socket into Central Alberta, Canada.
I am getting a phase adjusted 10MHz signal out of the Austron.

Very good news today there is a long test running in the Western US and 3 sites are now active.
Sites at Fallon, NV; George, WA; and Havre, MT are all up and running now.
GRI is 5990. Not sure you’ll hear them so far away but thought I would let you know in case you see any skywave.
At least two of these stations have significant power. Not sure on Havre MT.
I will be firing up the receivers and seeing if I can hear anything here on the east coast. Also will leverage the various online SDRs to see what they hear.
Just maybe we will have eLoran back as a frequency and time reference.

Very nice to hear that update. Solid signal strength also.
As for me on the East coast. Nothing. Honestly as expected.

ELoran Update from Western Canada:
As of September 13, 16:40 UT, the ELoran testing continues. As well as an Austron 2100F, I have dug out an Austron 2100R and after setting the GRI appropriately, it locked in about 8 minutes this morning. One thing I have observed is that there is much more broad band noise on 100kHz than years back mainly due to LED lights and various gadgets in my own house. Using the scope output on the 2100F, I can see the results of turning various things on and off. The Austrons do good job of staying locked, even with daytime noise levels, however. I am using an LF Engineering L400B with about 20dB of attenuation and galvanic isolation (coupling transformer) ahead of the Austrons. This has worked very well so far.

Very nice.
What is a 2100r? Have not heard of that unit.
I have 2100 and 2100F units that I use.
These do a very good job of rejecting noise. Over the years noise in the
VLF band has been going up.
It effects things like WWVB at 60 Khz and LORAN C at 100 KHz. First it was
the CFL lights and now LEDs.

Paul,
The 2100R is essentially a "headless" 2100F: The front panel consists of only four status LEDs. The GRI is set by switches behind the front panel. According to the 1988 Austron catalog, it was intended for use in applications where: "... a minimum of operator interface is desired."

Paul,
Good to know about the eLoran testing, thanks. In that case, I am going to recommission an SRS FS700 that I put away years ago. I will let the group know how it goes.
In the interim, I have tested a second 2100F and a couple of 2100R’s. All achieved lock within minutes. Interesting observation: The Austron 2100F stays locked even with all my local noise sources turned on and the LORAN pulse being obscured (on the scope) by noise pulses.

Subject: [time-nuts] Eloran long test from now to August or September.
Very good news today there is a long test running in the Western US
and 3 sites are now active.
Sites at Fallon, NV; George, WA; and Havre, MT are all up and running now.
GRI is 5990. Not sure you’ll hear them so far away but thought I would
let you know in case you see any skywave.
At least two of these stations have significant power. Not sure on
Havre MT.
I will be firing up the receivers and seeing if I can hear anything
here on the east coast. Also will leverage the various online SDRs to
see what they hear.
Just maybe we will have eLoran back as a frequency and time reference.
Regards
Paul

I am not surprised that your receivers locked on. That’s the beauty of Loran - takes a lick’n but keeps on tick’n !
Kind regards,

Paul,
Good to know about the eLoran testing, thanks.

Shaun,
OK interesting to learn. So with no display I might guess the data came out a GPIB or RS 232 port to something else.
I just sent an email eLORAN on till the end of the year and maybe longer.

Paul,
The 2100R is essentially a "headless" 2100F: The front panel consists of only four status LEDs. The GRI is set by switches behind the front panel. According to the 1988 Austron catalog, it was intended for use in applications where: "... a minimum of operator interface is desired."

Shaun now your just showing off. Chuckle Very nice.
What is a 2100r? Have not heard of that unit.
I have 2100 and 2100F units that I use.
These do a very good job of rejecting noise. Over the years noise in the VLF band has been going up.
It effects things like WWVB at 60 Khz and LORAN C at 100 KHz. First it was the CFL lights and now LEDs.

ELoran Update from Western Canada:
As of September 13, 16:40 UT, the ELoran testing continues. As well
as an Austron 2100F, I have dug out an Austron 2100R and after setting
the GRI appropriately, it locked in about 8 minutes this morning. One
thing I have observed is that there is much more broad band noise on 100kHz than years
back mainly due to LED lights and various gadgets in my own house. Using
the scope output on the 2100F, I can see the results of turning
various things on and off. The Austrons do good job of staying locked, even with
daytime noise levels, however. I am using an LF Engineering L400B with
about 20dB of attenuation and galvanic isolation (coupling
transformer) ahead of the Austrons. This has worked very well so far.

Shaun
Very nice to hear that update. Solid signal strength also.
As for me on the East coast. Nothing. Honestly as expected.
Enjoy the operational time.

A bit late I know, but I just fired up an Austron 2100F on GRI 5990
and it locked within minutes on September 4, 2023. Signal strength
(daytime) is around 150uV at the antenna socket into Central Alberta, Canada.
I am getting a phase adjusted 10MHz signal out of the Austron.
