Cruising America's Great Loop and other inland routes
View all threadsHello Everybody and Happy Holidays!
After years of boating and thousands of boating contacts made and forgotten/lost
or otherwise out of contact, I've decided to get boat cards.
Does anybody have a good source for REASONABLY priced cards?
Thanks,
Tommy
Just make your own using any word processing software; buy the laser cut
cards at any office supply store - they're as reasonable as you're gonna
get. Then you can just print them any time you need more, and change the
info as you change boats, telephone numbers, addresses, spouses, SOs, etc!

On a recommendation of Active Captain, we used Peggy Bjarno, member of MTOA
( and I think now AGLA). She runs a printing shop.
She did a fantastic job with our cards and at very reasonable price. She
took one of our boat pics and that is the entire background for the card.
It gets attention and people remember it.
Her email is
chesapklady@comcast.net
I highly recommend her. Can ship them to you anywhere.
R.

Great timing for a subject: I am in the process of making up mine! I went to one of our local Minutemen Press companies.
What we should we put on the cards? I have
boat name
my wife and my names
each of our cell phone numbers
email address
blog site address
I did not put home address, but did put home port, which is a country club marina.
Did I miss anything? Is the Club Marina OK, or too much?

I put my home address and use the cards for much more than boating. The
address has been handy. I also added my ship radio license just for grins
and my ham radio call sign.
Our boat pic and a pic of my wife and I are on there also. It helps to be
able to look at a card and remember cruising acquaintances.

P.S. This is a repost - first apparently was scrambled.
'Lo All,
What we should we put on the cards?
I have a watermark (of sorts) picture of the Celestial as well as
contact information. Works for us.
Hope you all had a great Christmas! Have a happy and safe New Year!
Take care and be safe.

We agree with Bob McLeran regarding using laser cut card stock.
However if you purchase Avery business cards that can be printed on both sides of the card stock, you can put your boat name, home port info, eMail and website (blog) information on one side. On the other side you can put your Names; Home address; home, office cell phone, and FAX numbers. That way your card can be used for both purposes.

Call me paranoid, but handing a relative stranger a card with my home
address on it when I am traveling thousands of miles from that
address on a boat...well, doesn't that mean nobody is at that address
watching out for all my household belongings...and...well, you get the picture.
If someone needs my home address, and I know why and I know them, I
turn the card over and write the address on it.
Yup! I am paranoid...
