You will also encounter trouble trying to run a lot of the more esoteric 8

to do with these. Once again, Rick's software will come to the rescue.

That saved the day.
It was one of those things that seem silly when you know but a real pain
when nothing wants to work.
The unit did come with some earlier DOS software and a while ago I booted up
the Dolch luggable, that I keep for the Z3801A and SatStat, and ran the DOS
GPS90 software but that was doing the same thing.
My problem???
The VP comand set document doesn't mention, or not that I can see anyway,
the need for that leading zero, so I was using @@Cg1.....and it don't like
that:-)
Considering the antenna is only propped up on a ground floor window sill for
now, and signal levels are on the low side, all is looking good, with a 10
degree mask angle it's seeing 10 or 11 satellites and so far tracking 3.
It turns out to be an early 8 channel, a B3 model, but as long as it has the
1PPS output, that should be ok for what I need.
Thanks too for the other information, I'll look out for a copy of TAC32 and
try that later.
regards
and thanks again

Jason,
While I am on the subject, I have some suggestions for the old docs on the
website:
Oncore_Users_Guide.zip: I would change the name to:
UT_GT_Oncore_Users_Guide.zip since this is really what it is. In some
documents it is also referred to as "TRM0003".
M12 Oncore Users Guide Supplement v1.1.pdf: This should be deleted or marked
as archive only. This doc was HORRIBLE. What Motorola tried to do was add a
supplement to the 8 channel UT_GT guide (TRM0003 above) instead of writing
an M12+ manual from scratch. As you can imagine, the confusion this caused
was catastrophic. 8 channel, 12 channel, etc. The M12 supported some of the
old 8 channel messages (but not all of them).
It was kind of like one of those Haynes or Chilton auto repair manuals that
tries to cover 6 models of cars built by a manufacturer over a 10 year
period. Unless you are intimately familiar with the car you are working on
already the manual can drive you crazy with a bunch of information that
doesn't apply to the model you are working on.
The "M12+UserGuide.pdf" that I wrote is the one to use.

Thanks for the tips, I'll try to update the files one of these days. I
mostly just put up whatever I was able to scrounge from various websites &
archive.org before the files went missing forever.

Hello Jamie,
I looked at one on ebay recently. Talked with a former Austron salesman
and that unit was the original of all GPS receivers.
It had a special block downconverting front end and antenna, not just
amplified and filtered RF, as is common today.
Without the special front end it was a no bid for me.

Jamie,
I believe I have one in the "store". Will take a look tonight when I get
back. May also be some of the module manuals. What plug-ins does it have?

My unit has:
23411437-2 Time Code (IRIG-B)
23411900 Sine Output
I also have a 23412342 LORAN MODULE, not sure if it is
for this unit.
Thanks for checking.

Hi Jamie,
Config sounds reasonable. The 2201A did have a LORAN-C assist module. Will
check through and let you know what I have. Will only ask that you cover any
postage charges on the package. Payment via PayPal works for me.
