[Ontbirds]HSR: Holiday Beach (10 Sep 2005) 408 Raptors
Sat, Sep 10, 2005 1:09 PM
Thank you all for coming. Weather: Wind from SE mostly 0-5 mph. Hot, sunny, blue sky. Raptor Observations: General movement of sharpies (mostly) and kestrels. Birds easy to see with young eyes but lost in the burning blue sky. SS in groups of 2 or more. One of 6 birds. Testing our resolve to find and identify them.

Cheap, easy, and requires a few parts that are not built into the micro controller. The simple answer is to use a cheap CPLD (possibly sub $2) for a bunch of this stuff and move on.

They are easy to fix and are sometimes glued in place. I am guessing it was opened and promptly put up for sale. I have repaired a couple and they are great meters, but I am hesitant to go down that road again. You never know how damaged they could be until you strip it down. Hi One thing about the math - it may not be easy stuff. A lot of the seemingly easy stuff we use took a lot of work to come up with. Many *very* smart people worked for many years on this stuff before they got all the little details right in the formulas. Even HP got it wrong when they first started converting phase noise to the time domain.

So that all sounds very bad. But actually its not. The sentence is quite complex especially with the error coding. Then there are also bits you simply can't easily determine because they can be changed.
