Holiday Beach Hawk Watch (05 Oct 2021) 531 Raptors
Wed, Oct 6, 2021 1:22 AM
Turkey Vultures took the top spot with 236, followed by Sharp-shinned Hawks at 183. American Kestrels improved their numbers of late with 49 seen. Northern Harriers had a good showing with 22, including a grey ghost. Although in low numbers it was good to see buteos return with Red-shoulders, Red-tails and Broad-wings all in attendance.

The wind remained from the south slight to moderate all day. Cloud cover varied during the day, but it was clearer in the afternoon. Starting misty, visibility quickly improved. Raptor Observations: Most raptors were seen around midday, with Turkey Vultures (222) again topping the bill, followed by Red-tailed Hawks (102).

Re: GL: Locking Thru the Erie

It makes grabbing the ladder rungs or lock pipe very easy ...Stay clear of long lines. Have seen boaters get cross the lock because the line got away. A midship line will keep the bow in because the stern is on the wall, and vice versa. In fact, I always go for a midships first, all the time.

Re: HP Z3801A project update
Fri, Feb 4, 2022 2:44 AM
I put the top cover on to let it warm up and stabilize the compartment, about an hour ago, and the last look while writing, is 631 245. It seems to move up and down by a few counts at most, with recurring checks. I don't know if these kind of EFC numbers are good or bad at this point. I'd appreciate any advice on whether this all seems OK or not.

Re: T&T: Solar panels to replace bimini

These panels do not require any more framing than does the top. > All we do to create an air space is put a 3/4" round fiberglass rod down > the center of the panel, bowing it up slightly in the middle.

Unusual Junco - white on breast and white tail
Tue, Jul 7, 2009 3:45 PM
I was on top of Mount Holyoke in MA yesterday and I saw a dark eyed junco with a semi circle of white in the gray area on his breast. He also had a completely white tail. I saw three tail feathers, all completely white. I watched him for about three minutes and he was on the ground about twelve to fifteen feet from me.

Re: T&T: Door Removal

To do > this, of course you have to move the door forwards and backwards to > remove all of the screws. For a Monk 36, which may or may not work for your Marine Trader, I do the same procedure, only on the top rail.
