Presqu'ile Bird Report for 6-12 May 2022
Sun, May 15, 2022 10:26 PM
Please Note: Gull and High Bluff Island are closed to visitors from 10 March to 10 September. Large numbers of colonial nesting birds breed there and are greatly disturbed when people go into the colonies. A seasonal or daily permit is required when visiting Presqu’ile.

Re: Is the practical quality of a 10 Mhz reference determined by the quality of the fundamental or by the quality of the zero crossings?
Fri, Mar 24, 2023 2:25 PM
That might be 10 Hz, It could be a bit wider. The parts used are typically pretty standard stuff. You could indeed do a *much* narrower loop with digital techniques these days. It would not take a lot. It *would* assume that the external reference is still worse than the internal down to whatever the new bandwidth is.

Re: Quartz crystal frequency jumps

While it was true that brand new crystals might age much faster than 5 parts in 10^10 per day (the spec), they mostly improved over time so that most got down to the spec. However, they rarely continued to get better than that with any consistency.

[Ontbirds] Ottawa/Gatineau - 26 Oct 10 - weekly update
Tue, Oct 26, 2010 1:25 PM
Poor habitat and viewing conditions dampened prospects for a good shorebirding - a PURPLE SANDPIPER reported from the Casselman sewage lagoons on the 22nd was not seen again, and all of the 10 species seen in this and other locations were in very low numbers and included 1 WHITE-RUMPED SANDPIPER, 9 PECTORAL SANDPIPERS and 27 DUNLIN.
