Re: T&T: Managing mooring line chafe
Sun, Aug 15, 2010 2:06 AM
After all, picking up a mooring, whether for one night, or for longer, is another activity in boating that often proves not to be a speed contest. So we don't assume it will be a quick and easy job to begin with and readily accept that a second step will be needed, even requiring the assistance of the dinghy.

The parallel port adapter is soooo easy. Infact you will find the schematic of Xilinx dongle on their web. The JTAG variant is however not so simple... Cheers, Magnus

Re: T&T: Replacing a broken salon sliding window
Tue, Apr 26, 2011 2:55 PM
Lever the slider down from the top and pull out all the old window channel material. 7. Place new channel in the bottom and side frames. 8. Put the new slider in place and seal and refasten the top piece of frame in place. 9. Working from the "back" end of the slider, you should be able to work the new top window channel material into place.

Re: T&T: Adding Water to Wet Cell Battery-How Much?

If it will be necessary to charge the battery, bring the levels in all cells to just above the separators inside the cells to allow for expansion during charging. Top off after charging as noted below.

sea water systems. . .2 cents worth. . . long

O2 is consumed by O2 organisms and they die. CO2 needers die too coz there's no longer any plants to produce CO2. Dead, smelly water. For the purposes of engines, it's clean water. Engines running, you'll see a little growth but not much. Been running down from New Orleans the last several months and it is not a problem. The sea chest is.

[Ontbirds] Cerulean warbler - Opinicon Road, Eastern Ontario
Sat, Apr 30, 2011 1:11 PM
Colour band combinations are usually reported as "top left/bottom left - top right/bottom right". For example today's cerulean warbler was wearing the colours white/white - white/silver. Please don't feel obligated to submit your sightings, but I'd welcome them from anyone who is interested in doing so. Thank you.
