Evening Grosbeaks; irruptive species

I can rest easy tonight. Oh, yes-after that casual and accidental find, I mistakenly assumed that they would be regular visitors in the area. Perhaps this winter I can finally get my second White-Winged Crossbill. John Johnson

[Ontbirds] Whimbrel, Harlequin Duck, Red-necked Grebes from Mississauga to Oakville.

At the lakeshore I had a flock of 26 WHIMBREL fly over, and a COMMON LOON in the bay. Elsewhere in the park there were a few warblers around in low numbers, nothing out of the ordinary. WILLOW FLYCATCHERS were singing everywhere. At Humber Bay West I saw the male HARLEQUIN DUCK from the boat launch area.

One they are not cumbersome and are easy to wear and transport. More likely to be worn when docking , traveling in the dinghy ,etc. When we go on other peoples boats we always take our fanny packs. Much easier than other type PFD's YMMV, CCC M/V CC RIDER CHARLES and PAT CULOTTA, Jr.

Re; chain counter

We do not trim the wire tie, but leave it full length so it's easy to see. We round the depth up to the nearest ten feet for figuring scope (we normally use 5:1). So if we're in 26 feet of water we simply multiply 30 times 5 for 150 feet of chain, and let out 15 wire ties "worth" of chain plus another ten feet or so.

I think this is possible, but not an easy change.
