Re: [time-nuts] Time Code generator

At JPL, we use IRIG to transfer time around between racks, particularly for things like MIL-STD-1553B monitors, which timestamp the bus traffic to the nearest microsecond or fraction, sync'd by the IRIG input. There's something really convenient about needing just one cable/fiber to perform the function.

The qualification mandated by NASA for these sensors refers mainly to MIL-PRF-23648 standard, that describes a load life test, consisting in application of maximum power specified for the themsitor during 1000h, intermittently (30min. on, 30min. off) and checking at 250, 500, 750 and 1000h that the thermistor remains in the specified tolerance in the applicable

On a mil device, an upper end temperature on the equipment likely would be over 70C. The outer oven would need to be 5 to 10C above that. Bob > On Feb 11, 2021, at 5:55 PM, paul swed wrote: > > OK I have had several responses and 110F is low as I expected. > Wonder if I am being faked out?

I used 5-wire + shield PTFE / pure copper (picked up on EBay, lots of mil-spec cable shows up there, mostly from aerospace leftovers) terminated with Pomona low-emf plugs. BTW, these are really great meters (except for the read time at 8.5 digits!). Mine keeps cal within typically 1 or 2 ppm for over a year at a time. Yes, seriously.
