Re: [time-nuts] Cheap jitter measurements

The comment at > the top of the code says "latency". > > When I hear "granularity", I think of the tick size of the clock. It's easy to measure a big tick size, read the clock, spin reading until it changes, subtract. In the case of putting out a pulse, the clock to the timer you are using (or the i/o clock on the pin) most certainly creates granularity.

Mostly, you can set them once, set them the same for all models, and be happy. I usually set both $fs and $fa to 1.  For 1mm-diameter circles, that yields a pentagon; for 100mm diameter circles it yields a 315-gon.

Crossbills, Redpolls, Vultures

Been chasing them all winter though two states, but even today they didn't make it easy. I arrived at about 10:30 am and after an area "sweep" hung around in front of the Carriage House" where they had been reported yesterday for about an hour. There were several other birders there, also looking for them.

All my instruments and electronics are up top, the enclosure is warm, shady, or you can zip it open and be cool and sunny. You can see everything so much better. Canvas and isinglass are much lighter than a hardtop. A well designed one is totally waterproof. You are out of the sun and wind.

Re: Deck Core Repairs

I could take off the top layer of fiberglass and remove the wet core, replace the core, and fiberglass to solve the problem. It would be a lot easier to drill holes, dry out the core and inject epoxy to cure the problem if there was a good easy way to dryout the core.

TWL: Successfully Connecting a Garmin 128 to a Laptop

Easy when you know all the steps. Thanks again. Next Problem: When trying to upload/download waypoints from within Navtrek, a dialog box comes up that says it can't do so "while sending or receiving NMEA data through the serial ports. Please disable the serial port via Tools>Options>ports I/O before uploading/downloading".

TWL: Cinderella
Thu, Jan 1, 2004 7:18 PM
Thus Cinderella is easy to handle. Had two hairy times though, one in my 2nd lock in Holland along with 2 barges. My crew released the lines too soon and the prop wash from the barge in front threw us all over the lock, banging the sides of the lock. No damage done however and we learned a serious lesson!

RE:T&T: My Perfect Boat and the Flybridge

The 0-8 level station was on the slim firecontrol director tower the Iowas had, and that made it easy to be able to see across the stern which was impossible at the 0-4 station.
