[Ontbirds]Bird Report Gowganda On - Temiskaming Dist

The numbers of Pine Grosbeaks are way down...where I usually had 75+ visiting each day in previous winters..I am down to maybe 10 on a good day. The same can be said of Redpolls ( not one Hoary yet this season) . Some neighbours have the odd American Goldfinch..there are NO Evenings in my area at all.

[Ontbirds] Brighton Constructed Wetland
Tue, May 18, 2010 5:48 PM
Just returned from a quick visit to the wetland, where we observed 23 species. There are at least 6 Virginia Rail, "2 dozen" or more Moorhen, a Pied-billed Grebe and of course the Osprey is sitting on the nest. There are also two sets of Mute Swan families, three Canada Geese and 1 female Mallard watching her brood of 9 (or 10).

I said typically you would not visit your packing every day. That's true, except when cruising hard over a long haul (is "cruising hard" an oxymoron?)

In any event, pretty soon, I hope; the crabbers will give up and the problem will solve itself. Since I won't be around for the next couple of months.

The Ideals have about 10 moving parts, all of which can be replaced. Call Ideal, talk to The Man (grandson of the founder, I think), he'll set you up. You can also go visit their shop, it's a cool place. Scott Island Eagle
