A group of 10 or more Brown-headed Cowbirds were present yesterday February 23 on Russell Rd., a few houses East of Boundary Rd., at Carlsbad Springs, East of Ottawa.

Birders, Yesterday, Saturday, I observed a group of about 10 white winged crossbills from my yard on Chestnut Drive in the Forest glade area of east Windsor. The birds were actively feeding on the many spruce trees in the area. Also good numbers of Common Redpoll visiting my feeders this winter, as well as several pine siskins.  

This morning at 10:00 am I visited the large pond at the corner of Moodie Drive and Barnsdale Road. There is a small amount of open water visible from the road and the migrants are starting to arrive. Here I found Northern Pintail, Ring-necked Duck, Bufflehead, Common Goldeneye and a dozen Common Merganser.

The 1st summer Little Gull was still present today, along with 7-10 Bonaparte's Gull. There was no sign of any Arctic Terns on either of my two visits today, but 7 White-winged Scoter were present in the evening, and there were large numbers of Ring-billed Gulls hawking the emerging May Flies.

Hi everyone, Lots of activity today at Chaffey's Lock, compared to a visit on May 6th. At least 3 Yellow-throated Vireos were singing at multiple places throughout the area. Lots more warblers present, with at least 10 Ovenbird, many Black-and-White Warbler, Northern Parula, and Yellow Warbler to name a few.
